When I refer to chat protocols, I mean taking things so that we do actions in the order of names in chat.
The Pros: less likely for actions to be missed in chat, people have some time to think out their responses.
The Cons: Can slow things WAY down, sometimes takes away from spontaneity.

as much as I hate the protocols... I get so lost without them.

I hate 'em, too. But... having ten people in chat sometimes and then getting into combat... it just ain't workin' for me not to use them.

I think we need to use the protocols, too. It makes it clearer who is doing what and when. There were times were at least two of my characters were trying to respond to actions and other(s) were sorta jumping on top of my actions, and in one case, a character (not naming names) forgot that one of my characters was ostensibly the Group Leader and needed to issue commands to fighters. The other character is probably missing some of her hair today in trying to respond to comm hails from a character who was panicking (okay, probably fits-that character has a tendency in Canon to spazz anyway..)

I voted yes. But obviously not every time. If chat is small.. like 5 people or less there is no need for protocols.
